About this event

This is a supported ride with 2 SAG stops (snacks, water, and power up juice - i.e. coffee and cold soda) and lunch at the Rock Inn in Lake Hughes. If you have ever wanted to try this beautiful loop, this is a perfect opportunity.  The forecast is looking bright, parts of the road are newly paved and the hills will be lush from the recent rain.  I am excited!

RSVP is not required but helpful so we can get SAG supplies. Email me (wnrosenthal@gmail.com)

This ride takes us through remnants of the historic "Castaic-Tejon Ridge Route" that was completed in 1915 and was credited with connecting the Southern and Northern parts of California. You can read more from this route from the excellent article by Neil Shirley:

Because of the poor surface conditions on parts of the Ridge Route, wider tires (28mm or wider) are recommended.  Lou rode on 28mm tires with 70psi and had no problems.

• Download the route prior to arrival.

• Be self-sufficient, prepared to handle flats and minor bike repairs.

• Carry a cell phone in case of emergency or to get that Uber ride needed every once in a while. (Be aware, however, that cell phone reception on many WE-ride routes in the San Gabriel Mountains is very limited).

This is an informal self-supported ride and not an official PAA sponsored ride. Neither PAA, the ride leaders, nor the route creators should be held responsible for any accident or injury that may occur during the ride. Please ride safely.
